What Is Resveratrol?
Resveratrol is a phytoalexin and antioxidant polyphenol, chemically known as trans-3,5,4′-trihydroxystilbene. It occurs naturally in the skin of red grapes and is produced by plants as part of their defence response to pathogens such as bacteria and fungi.
Resveratrol is also naturally present in red wine and has attracted considerable scientific interest because of its antioxidant properties.
Resveratrol in Cosmetics
Resveratrol is widely studied as an active ingredient for skincare formulations, particularly those targeting the visible signs of skin ageing.
